This is a simple and beautiful stacked food box with 4 cedar Masu in a transparent two-tiered case.

Enjoy using it in any way you like. You can take out the cedar Masu box as it is or use it as a container for the table setting.

Precautions:

Cedar wood is very delicate, please handle with care

Dishwasher, boiling water, open flame, and microwave oven cannot be used.

Akita cedar Masu box is handled in the same way as bentwood. If you are worried about stains, please wash it gently with a soft sponge and neutral detergent and dry it.

Please do not soak it in water for a long time as it is a delicate material and will damage the wood. Please be careful not to drop or bump the product as it may cause scratches or dents.

Handling and Maintenance

Please do not store in a refrigerator for long period of time, as cracks and splits may occur due to drying. (Storing in refrigerator for few days is fine)

Apply thin layer of food grade oil to box will keep them beautiful cedar box for a long time.

Akita Cedar

Ojuu’s wooden boxes are made of a special kind of wood called Akita cedar.

Akita Cedar is well known for its beautiful annual ring, breathability, and antibacterial properties. Our super lightweight cedar Masu boxes are made one by one by local artisans in Akita, northern Japan. You can enjoy its one-of-a-kind beauty in its color, annual ring, and scent. 

Akita cedar typically grows with less sunshine than other trees and keeps growing throughout its lifetime. Cedars gown this circumstance creates beautiful annual rings and makes them more durable for flexible.

Our MASU box is made by the Kanzashi technique using wild cherry wood. It makes Masu look beautiful with a darker color accent on each corner.

The inside and outside of the Masu are coated with beeswax to prevent the absorption of excess moisture and stains. As maintenance, we recommend beeswax or walnut oil to apply surfaces regularly. They give a natural coating to make it durable and help prevent stains from food.
